The Kerygma Family

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

Everyday I get an email with this subject "Jaze, God’s Message For You Today, Oct. 28, 2006 (or the date of the day)".  Occasionally, I get email messages from the man himself, Bo Sanchez.

Why am I writing this?

I just want to share this special gift I get everyday from Kerygma Family and hope that someday we will see each other there.Header

Which internet subculture do I belong to?

You are a Trekkie! Oh no!

Which internet subculture do I belong to?
You are a Trekkie!
It’s a geek, Jim! You probably have a starfleet uniform and a tricorder. Bonus points if you speak klingon. One day you will walk down the aisle with your buttertroll trekkie partner, humming to the Yoyager theme.

What’s a trekkie, anyway?

These Quizzes and personality tests I took are non-scientific and for entertainment only.  It says so on the site :-)  Wa koy lingaw noh?

Stuck in Traffic

Sunday, October 22nd, 2006

Yesterday, I was supposed to be in Lumpia House Countrymall at 8am for our usual BCBP Saturday breakfast fellowship which I’ve been missing since I started school - I have nutrition class on Saturdays 7am to 12.

A transformed optimist, I believe I can make it to the venue on time, bisag 7:40am na gud - Liloan baya amo. hehehe - I was thinking of overspeeding, ngeks!!! wa may overspeeding diri sa Cebu, sky is the limit may driving speed diri - think Danao or Talisay jeepney drivers.  Anyway, my spirit sagged when I was like ‘crawling’ for 15 minutes sa Cansaga area.  If you don’t know where that is -  basta, duol duol pa na sa amo - Consolacion pa na - and the venue is a 30-45min to an hour normal drive away.  I breathe a sigh of relief when I passed the seemingly heavy traffic flow and thought to myself, ok ra, sagdi lang ma late gamay.

But I was in for a surprise after barely a kilometer from that delay.  For before me is a line of vehicles slowly if not moving at all.  I thought I was in a parking lot instead of the highway.  I was stuck for over an hour, close to two hours jud to - slowly moving forward but mostly staying still.  What could one do in a traffic like this? I sang along Madonna and Spandau Ballet on the radio.  I folded the parking tickets in the car’s trash bin - daghan na man diay kaayo. Text here, text there , looked at equally bored drivers and passengers, looked up the sky, stared at the solid yellow street line, wiped dashboards and anything there is to wipe, basta wipe wipe lang… I even read my Healthcare 1 notes which is still in the car bisag humana ang klase. Hahay! Traffic jud kaayo.  Then I thought of looking inside my bag and try to do some cleaning up there and guess what I found? - my digicam! hehehe. Sa ka walay lingaw, I got the cam and just took some shots on the scenes ahead of me

Saturday, October 21st, 2006

It’s Oct. 21, Saturday, 4am.  It’s the day after my final-ist exam and I should be sleeping soundly still but I guess my eyes has acquired a mind of its own and automatically wakes up, dragging my entire body into wakefulness. I usually wake up at 3am, today I woke up a bit later, 3:15 :-)  And after my morning prayers, I usually open my nursing books and cram.  Today is different, sembreak na gud!.

Wa jud koy lingaw uy.  I’m reading everyone’s blog - Corrine’s, Anna’s, Reyna’s, Madie’s and anyone who has one, even those I do not know.  So I checked my own and I had this "unpublished" blog I wrote last Oct. 12.  Wala lang jud koy lingaw and I can’t go back to sleep - stubborn eyes!

October 12, 2006

Yesterday was the most fun I had while waiting for my turn to perform my return demonstration on - - - - - you guessed it! - ENEMA.  I didn’t expected it to be as much fun as it was last night.  Retdems for me are added burdens to my already heavy school load - mura jud kog gapas-an ug usa ka sako nga semento uy!.  But last night was different.

I was one of the last ones to perform thus I had the privilege to observe classmates before, during and after their retdems.  Initially, I had butterflies in my stomach but as every now and then one classmate would pass by us I just can’t help but had fun.   There were those who strutted their way to the rest room, there were those who make a go for it and ran as if they’re running a homerun and there were those who graciously just do ‘the catwalk’. :-) All different types of walks going to the same room.  hehehe

Yp

I think I lost my Yabang Pinoy band. It’s not in my drawer where I thought it was :-(

Book Meme

Sunday, October 8th, 2006

“Tag, you’re it!”  Last Friday, I was reading Madie’s blog on Book Meme and as I go through the lines I said to myself, “Wow! Madie really reads a lot o books!”  And I was also trying, without pressure ha, to recall the books which have in one way or another fall into the 9 categories listed there.

I don’t have the answers to all numbers then but when I got to the last part (#10), I saw my name – Jaze.  I clicked on it thinking this might be someone else with the same nickname but “Jaze” directed me to “Precious Moments” blog page, which is mine – huhuhehehuhuhehe (Suddenly, I’m laughing and sobbing at the same time - joke!)…. AKO JUD DIAY. Na pressure nuon ko Madz dah!  I don’t read that much book these days, except Nursing-related ones.   The ones I’ve read long time ago had been saved in my subconscious.

1. One book that changed your life.

    THE BIBLE

2. One book that you’ve read more than once.

Mighty Mom’s Secrets For Raising Super Kids.  Bought this book in March 2004 and it has been a great help

3.  One book that you’d want on a desert island.

The Purpose-Driven Life by Rick Warren.  At least by reading it, I would be reminded that there must be a reason why I’m there (in a desert island) and somehow I could keep track of how many days I’ve been there – in that desert island. Nganong maabot man pud ko didto uy?  Pang Miss Universe question man ni!

4.  One book that made you laugh.

Books by Bo Sanchez.  It’s not that his books are without depth, on the contrary, his books are full of spiritual enlightenment and preaching and teaching on different things – from money matters to vocation to facing your ugly past to ANYTHING under the sun.  The seriousness of the topics does not prevent Bo from injecting humor into his writings.

5. One book that made you cry.

Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology.  Mag test man gud mi halos every other day. Bhuhuhuhu Wwwaaaaahhh!

6. One book you wished had never been written.

Books with anti-Christ themes and those that seem to be not anti-Christ but have their facts all askew.

7. One book you wished you have written.

One of the books in the Bible, like the Gospel.

8. One book that you’ve been meaning to read.

The ABC’s of Writing Winning Business Plans by Garret Sutton.  It has been in my bookshelf since January this year.  I bought it so I must have been meaning to read it but just can’t seem to start…

9.  One book you are reading at the moment.

Aside from Nursing-related books, I’m reading “The One Minute Manager” by Ken Blanchard and Spencer Johnson.  It’s a book on Management.  It is recommended by a BCBP friend who is also a sales manager and he said it’s a good read for dealing with people.  I am not a manager but hey, I deal with people so…. :-)

10.  Three others that you’d want to do this.

           Gin-Gin, Jopie and Fay

Yaw na lang mo reklamo ha, and JUST DO IT :-)

My Kids just love Disney Channel’s High School Musical.  I had to buy a soundtrack CD and a DVD cause Fran and Gelo just can’t seem to get enough of Troy and Gabriella and Sharpay and Ryan and their songs and dances :-)

My First Days of October

Saturday, October 7th, 2006
I’ve been meaning to write blogs of simple, happy, sad, embarrassing, bizarre, extraordinary (or any adjective you could think of) events of my day to day existence in this world, however, time is a great factor why I haven’t been putting these experiences down in my own little ‘history book’. :-)
Today, I’m going to be jotting them down, at least the ones I can still remember. :-( bisag bahaw na.
And to make it more concise and compact (pareha ra ba ni silag meaning?), I’m going to borrow a writing style which I learned here in friendster, particularly from a former officemate in Far East Bank – Manalili.  Sir Stephen, I hope you don’t mind my adapting your style.  Just for this entry.
